To help students find a chapel fit for them, the sections below organize each experience based on a unique community or interest. Our hope is that each student will see themselves reflected in some way in these experiences and choose accordingly with their continued spiritual development in mind.
Spring 2024 Chapels
University Chapel Worship is a multi-cultural, corporate worship service that includes Scripture readings, prayers, worship music, and preaching that incorporates various cultural and historic representations of the local and global church. This chapel brings in top preachers and musicians while also including Baylor students, Faculty and staff in the course of the service.
CHA 1086-100/101/102 University Chapel Worship
This is a service that is shaped by a historic understanding of Christian worship and that uses music from various church formats and cultures. Students will have opportunity to lead in various ways and will hear sermons from local ministers in the Baylor community and beyond.
Callings & Career Chapels are designed around the intersection of academic study and Christian formation. These chapels allow students to learn spiritual practices and vocational stewardship with those who share their fields of study. Participants can select a chapel that connects to their major or department. These chapels meet at various times and locations throughout the week and involve Baylor faculty, staff and sometimes other professionals to provide instruction and practices.
CHA 1087-120 The Examined Life of the Healing Professions
This chapel is for students who took the Fall chapel "Faith & the Healing Professions" or is in a pre-health major and wants to explore a further discussion about God's calling on their lives towards medicine and spiritual disciplines that may prove beneficial for a life in healthcare. We will develop practices of prayer, reflection, community, and leadership as they pertain to the healing professions. In particular, students who took "Faith & the Healing Professions" chapel in the Fall may enjoy this continuation of the conversation.
CHA 1087-121 Faith and Nursing
An interactive experience that explores how the Christian faith and spiritual practices relate to the nursing profession, in order to develop a healthy spiritual life, and courageously face the challenges of a nursing career.

CHA 1087-123 Faith and Business
This chapel is for pre-business students, Business Fellows, or Hankamer Scholars who are interested in exploring what it means to be a follower of and ambassador for Christ in the marketplace. While scripture will serve as our main guide in discussions, practical examples of integrating faith into their business careers and work lives will be shared by faculty and business leaders.

CHA 1087-125 Faith and Business Discipleship Chapel
This chapel is intended to be a follow-up experience for students who participated in the Faith and Business Chapel. Conversations will focus on deepening our faith to equip students to be ambassadors for Christ in the workplace.

CHA 1087-126 Faith and the Healing Professions
Pre-health students in this chapel experience will explore the ways in which faith perspectives and spiritual practices form and prepare future healthcare professionals to deal with the challenges they will face. Each week will include talks and discussions that will emphasize the importance of healthy spiritual life and encourage the development of helpful practices early in one's career in the medical world. (Not for students who have already taken the Fall version of this chapel)
CHA 1087-130/131 Theology Through Art
Students will have to have Faith & the Arts Chapel as a prerequisite to this Chapel. Building on the concepts introduced in Faith & the Arts Chapel, this course will examine in greater detail the theological framework for examining and making art. Students studying in the arts in various mediums and disciplines are invited to this Chapel. Instructor approval required.

This is a required chapel course for Interior Design students. Students will learn how their vocation as Interior Designers interacts and intersects with scriptural and theological models of making and design. Departmental Approval Required.

This chapel introduces students to biblical, theological, historical and contemporary models for the vocations in storytelling arts (filmmaking, theatre, creative writing, communications, and other related creative fields) and the importance of the arts for the life of the world. CHA 1087-141 PreHealth and the Christian Faith
For Health Science Studies students only. Pre-health students in this chapel will explore ways to communicate the love of Christ to their future patients. Each week, students will watch a video tutorial, respond to reflection questions, read scripture, and participate in group discussion. Student will personally reflect on how the Lord can use them to meet physical needs as well as spiritual needs.

CHA 1087-142 Faith and Science
This chapel is for Christian students who love science. Unfortunately, in our contemporary society faith and science often clash with one another. The main goal of the chapel is to help students grow stronger in their faith by exploring its relationship to science. The chapels will cover a range of topics from creation/evolution to humanity’s future.
Resident Chaplains, in partnership with some CL&L programs and staff, provide spiritual programming for residents. The chapel experiences in this section allow residents to get a chapel credit while participating in the spiritual programming provided by their Resident Chaplain. The type of program varies based on the residential community and the chaplain but is always designed to meet the spiritual needs of the unique, residential community. This category does not include the morning or evening prayers hosted in residential chapels. See Community Prayers for those options.

This chapel is for residents of Collins only who are participating in the spiritual programming established by the Resident Chaplain. Times, dates, and specific location are set up and communicated by the Resident Chaplain based on the programming for this semester.
CHA 1088-03 Chapel at Collins 2
This chapel will take place in the Collins Residence Hall and will lead Collins residents through regular morning prayer services. The services will be 20 minutes each and will include call and response with written prayers, individual prayer time, silent meditation, and other creative expressions of prayer.
CHA 1088-05 Chapel at North Russell
This chapel is for residents of North Russell only who are participating in the spiritual programming established by the Resident Chaplain. Times, dates, and specific location are set up and communicated by the Resident Chaplain based on the programming for this semester.
CHA 1088-09 Chapel at South Russell
This chapel is for residents of South Russell Hall only who are participating in the spiritual programming established by the Resident Chaplain. This chapel is a discussion-based study on Paul's letter to the Romans. This chapel is for South Russell residents and will focus on reading through the book of Romans and discussing the reading with your fellow classmates.
CHA 1088-10 Chapel at University Parks
This chapel is for students who live at University Parks. There will be a weekly lectio divina or other prayer practice session. Students will also be expected to attend at least one event that is hosted at University Parks by the chaplain.
CHA 1088-11 Chapel at Teal
This chapel is for students who live at Teal Residential College. We will be exploring spiritual formation through observing formation in art and other things that are alive. We will practice Bonsai, lectio divina, and observation of nature.
These chapel experiences allow students to participate in their chapel experience through the leadership and programming of our campus ministry organizations. Each experience is unique to the organization but is incorporated into the faith formative practices, discipleship, worship, and outreach of the ministry.
CHA 1089-01 Vertical Ministries Chapel
Vertical is a worship gathering where students of all ages come together for a time of worship and time in the word. For this chapel credit students will explore spiritual practices beyond just attending a gathering. Each week of the semester students will attend Vertical and spend time practicing and learning spiritual reflection through journaling. Students will be taught how to journal, reflect, spend time in God’s word, memorize/meditate, and pray. Students will be expected to spend time at least 3 times a week journaling these thoughts, reflections, questions, prayers, scriptures, and anything that is meaningful to practicing the Christian faith.
CHA 1089-02 BSM Catalyst Chapel
BSM Catalyst chapel experience is connected to Baylor Baptist Student Ministries. Students who register for this chapel and sign up to be a part of BSM Catalyst will receive chapel credit through participation with Catalyst. This discipleship program includes formation, outreach, and personal discipleship for each student participant. Students must attend the Catalyst meetings every other Monday and will also attend the weekly BSM Thursday evening gathering (Thursdays 7:00 - 8:30 pm) For additional details, email Will Bowden.
CHA 1089-04 Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) Chapel
This is the weekly worship service of Reformed University Fellowship. It is open to all Baylor students and consists of brief announcements, 3-4 songs, and Biblical preaching. Students will engage in singing, prayer, and the study of God’s Word. The aim of this course is to see students grow in the areas of their experience of God’s grace, a Biblical understanding of the world, desire to fellowship with and serve others, and desire to share the Gospel.
CHA 1089-05 Cru Chapel
Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) exists to help students walk maturely with Jesus while in college and beyond. This chapel includes small group bible studies that we call Gospel Communities that meet on Tuesday night at 8pm in various residence halls around campus. Once a month at that same time on Tuesday, our small groups all come together for our large group gathering called CRUsday.
CHA 1089-06 Facetime with God Chapel
Face Time with God is a campus ministry that meets weekly, serving students spiritual development under the leadership of Rev. Olayinka Obasanya. While Face Time With God has a ministry focus on African American students, all students are welcome to join our fellowship. Chapel students will participate alongside other active participants in weekly gatherings as well as small group and special events throughout the semester.
CHA 1089-08 Catholic Student Association Chapel
Hosted through St. Peter Catholic Student Center, students gather for adoration and Daily Mass followed by community fellowship. This is open to both Catholic students and students interested in Catholicism. Catholic Student Chapel will occur on Wednesday evenings from 4:30-6pm.
CHA 1089-09 Catholic Student Chapel (Thurs)
Thursdays from 4:30pm – 6:00pm. Hosted through St. Peter Catholic Student Center, students gather for prayer, adoration and Mass. Participants are also welcome to join the Wednesday Supper following the Wednesday Chapel. This is open to both Catholic students and students interested in Catholicism.
CHA 1089-10 Student Mobilization Chapel
Are you interested in taking the next step in your faith? Do you want to consider going all in with Christ, making your faith your own, or learning to live out your faith as you consider getting involved in Greek life or other organizations on campus? If so, StuMo's Spiritual Leadership Chapel might be for you. In this Chapel, we will look at what the Bible says about these different areas, challenge you to assess your next step in making your faith your own, and give you opportunities to move towards being a spiritual leader for Christ.
CHA 1089-11 Young Life Chapel
Young Life at Baylor consists of weekly large gatherings called "Club" on Thursday Nights at 7 at The Wesley House as well as Small Group meetings during the week. The Chapel Credit would be consistent involvement in Club and/or a Small Group. Club is focused on building friendships with a lot of students, engaging in a variety of social activities and exploring the life of Jesus. The focus of a Small Group would be deeper community with a handful of students and discussing what it means to be a life-long follower of Jesus.
CHA 1089-12 Catholic Bible Study Chapel for Men
Thursdays from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at St. Peter’s Catholic Student Center. This chapel is for any man who is curious about Catholicism and looking for an opportunity to learn and grow in their faith. The group starts with community fellowship supper at 6:00pm and then breaks off into a weekly small group from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Must get instructor approval.

Thursdays 6:00pm – 8:00pm at St. Peter’s Catholic Student Center. This chapel is for any woman who is curious about Catholicism and looking for an opportunity to learn and grow in their faith. CHA 1089-14 Faith & Fellowship Chapel
Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30pm – 7:15pm in the Bobo Chapel. The Faith and Fellowship chapel is focused on creating an atmosphere where students can cultivate an intimate and personal relationship with the Lord and His Body through the Word, love, care, and fellowship. Our goal is for students to read through the New Testament of the Bible in one academic year but in doing so, develop a deep and purposed filled Christian life.
CHA 1089-15 Open Table
Open Table believes that conversations about faith happen best around the table and that there is a seat for each of us. Each week we share a meal, pray together, study Scripture, and have conversations centered on faith, community, and belonging. We seek to be a space where questions and doubts are welcome and where we can learn from one another in a safe place. Guest speakers present on occasion and pastoral care is available to students who participate in this chapel.
CHA 1089-16 Prayers of the Early Christian Church
Hosted by Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF), this chapel offers students the opportunity to pray the morning prayers of the ancient church, which are preserved in the Matins service of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Students of every Christian tradition will be inspired by praying the Psalms and enlightened by the theologically rich hymns.
Students who are drawn together by common interests and passions can find a chapel experience that allows them to participate with like-minded peers. These chapels include Christian teachings and spiritually formative practices that are attentive to the unique characteristics of these communities. Please read the descriptions to determine whether a certain community interest chapel is a good fit.
CHA 1090-01 Chapel for Post-Traditional Students
This chapel will open an opportunity for this population to grow and explore biblical scripture. The goal is to provide an environment that is open and non-judgmental and discuss how to navigate life based on the biblical principles. The students will have an open conversation of how to apply these principles in their daily life.
CHA 1090-02 Faith & Athletics 1
Led by Baylor sports chaplains, participants will explore together what it means to play and participate for the glory of God by practically applying the Bible to collegiate athletics. Through thoughtful presentations and small group interactions, participants will learn to see high-level athletics more deeply through the lens of faith. This chapel experience has been designed for those currently competing in college athletics, challenging them to both think about athletics and compete in a whole new way. will have an open conversation of how to apply these principles in their daily life.

CHA 1090-04 Faith and the Veteran Life
This chapel class is a semester-long exploration of Biblical themes through the perspectives of each of the student veterans that choose to attend this course. Our military experiences provide one unique and often homogenizing effect on the group. However, all perspectives are invited in order to make the conversation richer and fuller.
CHA 1090-05 Wilderness Spirituality
Wilderness Spirituality explores how nature and creation can enhance your spiritual life. In this chapel you will learn about and be exposed to spiritual practices in the outdoors. Practices will be based on methods of movement, meditation, observation, and reflection that support a healthy spiritual life. Meets weekly on Mondays until a final weekend trip to a Texas State Park.
CHA 1090-06 Chapel Abroad
This chapel if for students who are studying abroad and still need their chapel credit. Spiritually formative experiences are woven into their study abroad expectations and managed through a Canvas Course.

For International students. Includes an overview of Scriptures that prepares students for Christian Scriptures courses. Contains spiritually formative practices that include discussion, learning, and communal engagement.
CHA 1090-08 Service Chapel
This chapel is for students who love service. We are looking for students interested in disaster relief, food insecurities, interfaith cooperation, community development, and how a life of service is connected to faith formation. Students who take this chapel will get their two credits over the Fall and Spring semester. The Spring semester gatherings will be asynchronistic and work around personal schedules to prioritize Baylor service projects. Students who hope to apply for the Service Fellows.
CHA 1090-09 Leadership for the Common Good Chapel (Fraternity & Sorority Life)
Student Leadership Development at Baylor seeks to embolden students towards cultivating the dispositions and practices necessary to faithfully and authentically lead for the common good. Through this chapel course, and their active engagement across campus, students will “develop their leadership potential, explore their faith and beliefs, increase their desire for wisdom, and prepare for service in a diverse and interconnected global society.” Additionally, this experience will help students cultivate the habits and virtues necessary to orient their leadership toward flourishing and a “vision to change the world.”

Participants will get to engage with specific subjects and learn faith-formative paths towards human flourishing. These experiences do not contain a worship-practice and might be a good fit for those who seeking a different kind of chapel due to their faith background or beliefs.
CHA 1091-01 Beginning a Soulful Journey
Beginning a Soulful Journey is a Baylor Chapel experience centered in the conviction that human beings are made in God’s image and therefore are inherently spiritual. During the semester, students will be engaging with one another, with spiritual teaching, with themselves, and, hopefully, with God. The Monday meetings will involve spiritual practices, presentations, and conversations. Throughout the week, students are expected to spend some time reflecting on and journaling about the themes introduced in the session and materials shared with them through Canvas and as handouts.
